Who We Are (Old Edition)
Thank you for your interest in Christ Community Church. We are a new church in Germantown. We started in March, 2010. We are a daughter church of Shady Grove Presbyterian in Rockville. We average about 80 people on Sunday morning.
Our worship service seeks to minister the Gospel of grace. Our worship service features a confession of sin and weekly communion. Every sermon is rooted in the ministry of Jesus Christ. We've found that most visitors are accustomed to one of two messages. They are either taught 'be moral and God will accept you' or 'God accepts you no matter what.' The Gospel is contrasted with both of these messages. The Gospel is that you are more sinful than you ever realized, but you are more loved and approved in Christ than you ever imagined.
As a church we believe genuine community is necessary for growth in Christ. We strive to express the love, acceptance, and truth which we have with God through Christ. To promote genuine friendships we host a time of light refreshments after each service, and meet for mid-week gatherings called community groups.
As a church we believe Jesus' mission was word and deed. Therefore, we seek to serve Montgomery County through participating in summer construction projects, supporting a local food bank, and volunteering with a tutoring program for young children.
Lastly, we believe the Gospel breaks down racial, age, and economic barriers. We believe it is important that we reflect and enjoy the diversity of Montgomery County.
Thank you for your interest in Christ Community Church. I invite you to attend a Sunday morning worship service. Check out our first time here page to learn more about what we do on Sunday mornings.
