The Great Teacher

What an amazing summer! We certainly have experienced many weather related situations with the hot summer, earthquakes and tremors-who knew?, as well as hurricanes and tropical storms.

These events really bring home how little control we have over our lives and livelihood, and what a great blessing it is to know that God is in control of all things. We still worry and fret, since we are human, but there is relief knowing that God is the Master of the Universe and we can turn to Him when we need reassurance and love.

We need to train our children in this knowledge as well. We need to teach them the truths that are found in the Bible. They need to know that God is there for them in every storm of life. Along that line, we are excited to announce the beginning of our Sunday School program. For now the program is limited to 4 year olds through 5th graders. After we get that up and running we will add a Middle School and High School program.

Just as our children need to be taught reading, writing, math, and other topics to help them develop into successful adults that love learning, we need to teach our children to love God and His Word. Join us this Sunday, September 11, at 9:45 for our Elementary Sunday School!

Wow! Summer is here. It seems like we were waiting forever for the warm weather, and we sure plunged right in this spring. It is amazing that we are already half way through June.

To celebrate the summer, why don't you consider doing something out of the ordinary, go out on a limb...try visiting a new church that meets in a local elementary school. Try us!

Sundays during the summer are a relaxed time. People are coming and going, refreshing their bodies with vacations and renewing their spirits with a study in God's Word. Join us for our service of worship-which is casual, and stay for a while after the service for some light refreshments

For the kids, we are offering Vacation Bible School the week of June 27 through July 1. This a great opportunity for them to meet the other children at church in a fun environment.

We look forward to what the summer may bring us!

This Sunday is Easter. When we hear the words Easter Sunday, we have a flash to the past. New clothes, new shoes, family dinner, Easter egg hunts, church; memories flood the mind. Flash forward to the present and we see that we have continued many of the traditions we had has a child with our children. We want that warmth and love we find in family circles. We want the best for our families.

Church may be a tradition in your life. Maybe as a child you went to Sunday School. Maybe as an adult you went on special holidays. We want to assure you that the warmth and love that are a part of your memories are a reality each Sunday at Christ Community Church.

You will find friends and people you can trust in times in trouble. You will develop a close relationship with our Lord Jesus, you will discover the piece of you that was missing, whether you knew it or not. We invite you to come and experience the memories of your childhood.

Our Easter weekend starts with an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, April 23, from 11:00am-1:00pm. This family event is free and open to the public. Our Easter worship service is Sunday, April 24, at 11:00am. Listen to our children open our service in a special song. Then hear the message brought by Pastor Matt.

We hope to see you there!

March has blown in, and with it the anticipation of spring.
It is amazing how far away the warm weather seems to be when there is a foot of snow on the ground. And yet, it is almost here. And the reminder that Easter fast approaches.

Take a few minutes this week to contemplate the unbelievable sacrifice that Christ made when He took upon Himself the burden of a world far from God. Then, take a few more minutes to take a long look at your life. Are you just blowing in the breeze? Do you need more joy, more purpose, more contentment? Do you wish that you felt that you were more appreciated, more loved?

Come to our worship service on Sunday mornings. Feel the love of God in our midst, feel the joy of knowing that you are accepted for who you are in the sight of God, learn His purpose for your life.

Have a Blessed Christmas

"...The Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth" John 1:14. Our very best wishes to you all, that you may have a spirit of hope as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, and prepare for the New Year. This past year has been full of challenges for many of us, and while we may have wondered why, we know that when God fulfilled His promise to us in the birth of His Son, we knew we could rest in the knowledge of His faithfulness and goodness to us, no matter what the circumstance. As the shepherds watched over their sheep that wonderful day, God watches over us each and every hour of the day.

Come worship with us Sunday, December 19 and Sunday, December 26, as we celebrate this special time of year. Come and learn that hope is not a magical term, or wishful thinking. Hope is the spirit of God, embodied in a small Child, born in Bethlehem so long ago.

Autumn Glory

Fall is here, and with it comes a new energy. As the leaves change into beautiful autumn shades of color, we also begin to change our lives as we get into the rhythm of what the fall months bring. A new school year, cooler weather, activities for the kids, football games on TV, Thanksgiving, and yes, Christmas-which is just around the corner.

Fall at CCC means a new sermon series on marriage, new families, new programs, and new plans for the holidays. Along that line we are having a Fall Festival on October 30 at William Gibbs, Jr. Elementary School from 7:00 until 8:30. Kids, ages 4 through middle school, are going to have a great time with crafts, games, and some light refreshments. Kids should dress in friendly costumes for our costume parade. This family event is free, but we are encouraging all families to bring canned food items to be donated to Germantown Help. This program provides emergency food, prescriptions, and rental help for those families struggling in this current economic environment. There will be information at our event for anyone wanting to find out more about how to volunteer for this organization and what needs they currently have.

We are planning a free, family movie night during the holidays, to give families a “time out” from the stress of the season. Look for more information on our web site in the coming weeks.

One more thought for the fall season. Why not put church onto your list of new things to do? It is amazing how one morning a week, spent with a group of people who are interested in what God says about life and to how to live it, can put a burst of energy into your week, and a new perspective on your own life. And, thanks to Daylight Savings Time, you don’t even have to wake up “early”. On November 7, we turn the clocks back an hour. Take this extra hour and come to church. Bring the family. We look forward to meeting you!
